Powder Metallurgy Standards

International Powder Metallurgy standards are generated by the technical committee, ISO/TC 119.

The five sub-committees of this technical committee have created a range of standards that address sintered metals and hardmetals. Work is also underway to create Metal Injection Moulding standards, but, to date, none of these have yet been approved for publication.

Sub-committee 1 focuses on terminology and has created the standard on PM vocabulary ISO 3252:1999

Sub-committee 2 focuses on powder characterisation methods (excluding hardmetals) and has created the following standards:

Sub-committee 3 focuses on sintered metal part characterisation methods (excluding hardmetals) and has created:

Sub-committee 4 addresses both powder and sintered part characterisation methods, specifically for hardmetals:

Sub-committee 5 addresses material specification standards and has created ISO 5755:2001 – Sintered Metal Materials – Specifications
