Eight employees from Höganäs AB have just begun a ten day trip from Höganäs in Sweden to Friedrichshafen in Germany. The journey, over 1000 km long, is being made on electric bikes that use the new Eclino electric drive systems from Höganäs.

Eclino is a drive system that offers compact high torque with an outstanding hill-climbing ability for Electric Power Assisted Cycles (EPACs), speed pedelecs and other types of light electric vehicles (LEVs).

The Eclino drive systems use Höganäs’ transversal flux motor technology based on the company’s soft magnetic material Somaloy. By utilising the 3D magnetic properties of the material, the motor has been designed to deliver high torque density and high efficiency.

“We want to show that an e-bike can change people’s habits, in this case to extend a bike vacation. It also gives us an opportunity to demonstrate our new drive systems which have an outstanding hill-climbing ability. We are therefore especially looking forward to our journey through the hilly parts of Germany,” stated Julia Persson, Marketing & Event Manager.

E-bikes from OhmCycles, incorporating the Eclino drive system, will be on display at the Eurobike 2014 fair in Friedrichshafen, August 27-30.
