Atlas Pressed Metals, located in DuBois, Pennsylvania, USA, has reported that it is expanding its Tom Mix Drive facility. The expansion will bring the total size of the building to more than 52,000 ft2 and allow the installation of new machinery. The company also plans to increase its workforce when the construction is completed.

The Powder Metallurgy (PM) components manufacturer, which was founded in 1976, currently produces products for the automotive, lawn and garden and appliance industries, as well as for power and hand tools, pumps, small motors and meters.

New equipment planned for installation in December will enable Atlas to manufacture larger components including those requiring more than 200-ton presses. The addition will also free up additional capacity in some of its higher demand lines.

“We made the decision to expand and install larger, more technically capable presses and move into larger parts to better serve our customers,” stated Jude Pfingstler, President of Atlas Pressed Metals. “We will also be bringing a new high-temperature sintering furnace online which gives us additional options for desired properties for the parts.”

According to Atlas CEO Richard Pfingstler, the current building on Tom Mix Drive was built in 1985. The building was first expanded in 1989, and a second expansion was completed in 1998.
